·   Appointed by Mayor Rahm Emanuel to run the transportation department in the 3rd largest city in the U.S.

o  The Basics:

o    Went from 64 year paving life-cycle on arterial streets before Mayor Emanuel started to 15 year standard

o   Set record for overall paving volume in the last decade (over 250 miles/yr)

o   Pothole open CSR’s fell 80% since Mayor Emanuel took office

o   Street Lights out fell over 90% from May 2011

o  Crack-seal program launched on local streets and arterials to extend lifecycle

o  Divvy Bikeshare program launched, 2nd largest in U.S.

o  Chicago 2020 Bike Plan launched with input from all corners of Chicago, calling for 645 mi of facilities

o  70 miles of advanced bike facilities installed since Mayor Emanuel took office (goal of 100 by 2015)

o  $99m TIFIA loan secured for Mayor’s signature Riverwalk project in record 8 months

o  2 year Chicago Forward Agenda launched and Update in 11/13

o  Complete Streets Guidelines, Sustainable Urban Infrastructure Guidelines launched
